Events

 

What is your refund and exchange policy for event tickets?

Because we don't have our own storefront, we host our events in partnership with other local small businesses, meaning we share all operational costs as well as revenue with them based on anticipated attendance. The only way for our partner businesses to properly prepare supplies, space, and food/drinks for these events is to have a clear idea of how many attendees to expect, meaning that any last-minute changes make hosting that much harder for these businesses. For this reason, event tickets cannot be refunded. Exchanges for future events are only allowed if you reach out a minimum of 10 days before the start of the original event you signed up for. Our events are usually sold out and we want to make sure that we'd have enough time to fill any open spots with people who are hoping to join. Shipping & INVENTORY

How much is shipping?

We currently offer free shipping for online orders over $75, which is automatically applied at checkout. For orders below $75, shipping is automatically calculated by USPS Ground Advantage. 

 

Where do you ship?

We currently ship to all U.S. states and D.C. excluding for Hawai'i and Alaska. We're sorry for any inconvenience!

How long will it take to get my order?

For books in stock, we typically ship orders out in 2-3 business days, but please allow up to 5 business days. A delivery estimate and tracking details will be provided once your order is shipped. 

 

If you need your order urgently, please reach out to contact@yellowperilbooks to confirm and process your order.

 

What is your return and exchange policy?

At this time, books and Yellow Peril Books merchandise cannot be exchanged unless they are visibly damaged upon arrival. Returns and exchanges are only allowed on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out to contact@yellowperilbooks.com if you have any issues with your order.

 

Do you offer kids books, foreign language books, or used books?

Currently we offer a curated selection of titles in English primarily for adults, but we hope to expand to carry more types of books soon! We plan to have a wider YA and children’s section in Fall 2025. Please stay tuned for more updates and we appreciate your patience as we scale our little bookstore’s operations <3

 

How do you pick the titles you stock? 

As a bookstore that aims to highlight the diversity and range of the AANHPI experience, we try to select titles that span cultures and genres, with a special emphasis on particularly underrepresented subsets of our community. We recognize that there are thousands of titles that fit this criteria and are worthy of being featured, and one day we would love to! Our current inventory was built through hours researching, reading, speaking to different authors, collaborating with readers like you; but it’s not nearly at the breadth that we want to have. We recognize that this is still a limited selection and are always open to requests and recommendations from our community. Over the next few months, we’re hoping to quickly grow the volume of titles we stock; and we’ll be continuously adding and adjusting our inventory over the course of our operations.

 

Out-of-stock books and custom orders

The book I want is out of stock! How long does it typically take to get it re-stocked?

If the book you want is listed as currently out of stock, don’t worry! For most requests, we can still typically get the book to you in two-ish weeks. 

 

We prioritize re-stocking any titles for which someone has clicked “Notify When Available,” and we will send a notification when that title is re-stocked (typically in 7-10 business days).

 

These are general estimates, and we’ll follow up with delivery updates and unexpected issues.

I pre-ordered an upcoming release - when will I get it?

For new releases, pre-orders will ship on or a few days after the publication date. For example, if you’re ordering a book on August 1st and the book will be published on October 14th, we will typically ship the book on or a few days after October 14th. You will receive a shipping confirmation with exact details when shipped.

 

Your website doesn’t list the book I want! Can I still order it through you? 

Don’t worry! If you can’t find a book by an AANHPI author on our website that you want to buy, email us at contact@yellowperilbooks.com with the subject line “Special book order request” and tell us the following info:

  • Title and author of the book

  • ISBN

  • Number of copies you want to buy

  • Delivery address 

Once we receive your request and check the availability, we’ll email you with an estimated delivery timeline, cost, and confirm if you’d like to move forward with the purchase. Please note that special orders typically take 8-10 business days for us to process and ship.

 

If you want to purchase a book by a non-AANHPI author or just need a book delivered more quickly, you can still support us with your purchase on Bookshop.org! Select Yellow Peril Books as your bookstore by clicking to our Bookshop.org storefront and browsing the rest of Bookshop.org from there. Even if you don’t buy a book from our reading lists, a percentage of your purchase will go toward us and our operations as long as the Yellow Peril Books name and icon are at the top left part of your screen next to the search bar when you go to check out.

Bulk book orders

I’d like to place a bulk order of a book for a classroom, workplace, book club, etc.—can I place a bulk order with you?

Yes! Email us at contact@yellowperilbooks.com with the subject line “Bulk book order request” and tell us the following info:

  • Title and author of the book

  • ISBN

  • Number of copies you want to buy

  • Delivery address

Once we receive your request and check the availability, we’ll email you with an estimated delivery timeline, cost, and confirm if you’d like to move forward with the purchase. As we understand your needs, we can confirm delivery timeline and details prior to confirming the order.
